The Challenge

Schools face various challenges when it comes to attendance and behavioural issues. One of the main challenges is the high rate of student absences. Whether it is due to illness, family circumstances, or lack of motivation, frequent absences can significantly impact a student's academic progress and overall achievement. Moreover, schools must also deal with behavioural challenges, such as disruptive behaviour, aggression, or lack of discipline. These behaviours not only disrupt the learning environment but can also hinder the academic and social development of other students.

Well-Being & Attendance Programme

The Well-Attended Programme recognises the connection between attendance, behaviour, and student wellbeing, crucial for students' educational journey. This relationship fosters a positive cycle where student wellbeing reinforces attendance, behaviour enhances wellbeing, and attendance fosters positive behaviour.

Our programme consists of:

  • 1:1 work with pupils
  • Home visits
  • Contact work with families by telephone, letters, emails
  • Liaising with multi-agency involvement (to include making appropriate referrals)
  • Advice to parents, pupils and schools regarding barriers to attendance
  • Develop re-integration plans and target setting for pupils
  • Data analysis
  • Attendance Monitoring and Register checks

Our Approach

Initial Assessment: Meet with school staff to understand specific needs and challenges of students and families.

Tailored Support Plan: Collaborate with school staff and families to develop personalised support plans for each student and family, setting clear goals and objectives.

Implementation and Monitoring: Direct support to students and families. Consistently monitor progress, adjust strategies as necessary, and maintain open communication with staff and families.

Review and Adjustment: Assess the impact of the support plan on student attendance, behaviour, and engagement in learning. Make appropriate adjustments to the support plan based on progress and feedback.
